Today’s a big day. This is my first newsletter focused exclusively on France—and I couldn’t be more excited to share why.

⚽️ Where It All Began

My first trip to France was in middle school. My parents took me through the rolling countryside where every village looked like it was pulled from a storybook.

Even then, I remember imagining what it would be like to live there.

Later, in high school, French was my favorite subject. (I even won the French II award… then promptly forgot half of it—don’t worry, I’m relearning!)

Around the same time, I joined a foreign exchange soccer team that brought me to Bordeaux to live with a French family for a month.

What an experience!

We played matches across the region, explored castles in the Dordogne, climbed the Dune du Pilat, and capped the trip with a visit to Paris.

The hook was set.

🚴‍♂️ Chasing the Dream

France became a kind of north star.

I dreamed of cycling through vineyards, pulling into a sleepy village square, and sipping a cold beer or crisp white Burgundy while life unfolded around me.

That dream? I'm turning it into reality.

Years later, my wife and I took a two-week trip through southern France—from Paris to Bordeaux, across to the Dordogne, kayaking under ancient castles, then on to Provence, the Calanques, Cassis, and the Alps.

It confirmed what I already knew:

France isn’t just beautiful. It’s built for living.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve helped Americans explore retirement options in both Italy and France. But France always felt like home base.

And when I dug deeper into the numbers—especially the U.S.-France tax treaty that eliminates French taxes on Social Security and other retirement income—I knew it was time to go all in.
